Why totals mislead
Two quotes for the same rooms can differ because one includes tearing out tile and leveling the slab and the other doesn't, or because one measured your rooms and the other guessed from a floor plan. Until every line matches, the totals aren't comparable.
Print this page (your browser's Print command works) and fill in one column per quote.

Red flags
- No moisture test on a slab job. Waterproof planks still sit on concrete that can carry moisture. Ask whether the slab will be tested and what happens if it reads high.
- Vague square footage. "About 1,200 feet" with no room-by-room measure makes it impossible to check the material order or the extra allowance.
- No license number. A Nevada flooring contractor should put a license number on the quote. Check it yourself (below).
- Removal and prep missing. If you have tile now and the quote never mentions taking it out, the price is incomplete.
- Pressure to sign today. A real price holds long enough for you to compare it.
- Large cash deposit, little in writing. Get the scope, schedule and payment terms on paper.
Check a Nevada contractor license
The Nevada State Contractors Board has a free public lookup. Search by business name or license number and check that the license is active, that its classification covers flooring or tile, and that its monetary limit covers your job.

Questions worth asking every company
- Who measures, and who installs: your own crew or a subcontractor?
- What exactly is under my current floor, and what if the slab needs more work?
- Does the product warranty allow the pad or underlayment you plan to use?
- How long should the floor acclimate, and where will boxes be stored?
- What does the labor warranty cover, and for how long?
